OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2008. Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant (ZMP, Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk region, ESTAR Group), sums up the results of the annual contest “Young Specialist of the Year”.

As Inna Gladysheva, ZMP press secretary, informed Ural-Press-Inform, the contest started on January 31, 2008. Viktor Pavlov, foreman of the rolling shop No.1, won the contest and was given the title of “Young Specialist of the Year 2008”. Sergey Martynov, head of the technical control section, was ranked second and Maria Zhanova, engineer of the testing and production technology procurement shop, was given the third prize.

There were 59 participants in the first qualifying round representing almost all the plant’s departments. 36 of them reached the semi-final. Eventually 12 candidates came to the final stage. They were to show their communication skills in the following competitions: “Introduction”, “Warm-up” and “Homework” on the stage of the “Metallurgist” culture club. The winner of the first prize and other prizewinners were given considerable money prizes. Other finalists were given consolation prizes and offered broad career prospects.

As statistics show, no less than 50% of the contest participants get a promotion during the year following the contest. The contest “Young Specialist of the Year” held at ZMP became an efficient way to find young promising employees. In 2008 the plant is to assign over 1,150,000 rubles to work with the young employees – this is a 450,000 rubles increase on the y-o-y basis.
