OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2008. The equipment of the second stage of the DURR paint line was put into operation at the KAMAZ Frame and Stamping Plant.

The area including abrasive grinding, seam sealing and antinoise mastic chambers was connected on holidays. The main complication of the project is that it is realized without suspension of truck production.

According to Yury Gherasimov, Chief Engineer of the Frame and Stamping Plant, corrosion resistance of a framework by cataphoresis priming is four times higher than by an anaphoresis method; warranty on cab lacquer coating will be extended from three to seven years. The quality of cab framework painting has already improved greatly. After the third stage is launched the second priming will be applied for the first time at KAMAZ. It is used in Russia only in a car painting procedure so far.

“The fourth extra painter robot will be installed and the drying chamber of the second priming will be lengthened on the third stage. All engineering solutions are approved by our partners – the top managers of the firms DURR, DuPont, Chemitall”, – noted Gherasimov.

KAMAZ and the representatives of Durr Systems GmbH are discussing a project. It implies the productivity boosting of the paint line from 75 thousand to 115 thousand frameworks a year. Trucks production volumes are growing by leaps and bounds. And cab painting shouldn’t become “a headache” in the company’s plans.
