OREANDA-NEWS. May 15, 2008. In Smolny Valentina Matvienko, Governor of St. Petersburg, and Igor Kostin, CEO of Power Machines, signed an Agreement on strategic cooperation within the framework of celebration of the 63rd Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War Victory development and realization program.

Within the framework of this Agreement Power Machines will provide charity support to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and contribute into purchase of health resort packages in sanatoriums of St. Peterburg and the Leningrad Region under the auspices of Committee of Labor and Social Policy. The total amount of financing will make 2 million Rubles.

“St. Petersburg Government does its best to surround our veterans with support and care and to improve their lives. The companies that answered to our call to take part in the program named “the Duty” are aware of social responsibility of business. More than 100 companies entered the program since it was launched in 2005 and among them is Power Machines, the Russian leading power engineering enterprise”, said Valentina Matvienko, Governor of St. Petersburg.

“Our workers contributed into the Victory. They were starving but they did not give up. They worked at machines at the plant during the siege of Leningrad, they defended their home town under arms, rid their Motherland of the enemy. We are proud of their feat and remember of our veterans. Our participation in this program is our duty to all those people who made the Victory”, said Igor Kostin, CEO of Power Machines.

One of the components of social policy of Power Machines is a concern about veterans of war and labor. The company’s branches have their own councils of veterans and charity foundations that render financial support, provide free of charge catering, medicines, organize lectures and concerts, meetings with managers and specialists of Power Machines. The veterans get regular financial support and presents for public holidays.
