OREANDA-NEWS. On May 13, 2008 following the talks of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov and Prime Minister Han Seung-soo of South Korea, public bodies and agencies of the two states signed a number of documents, reported the Official website http://en.government.kz

These are protocol of intent between Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry & Trade and South Korea's Ministry of Land, Transport & Maritime Affairs on cooperation in construction; an MoU between the Kazakh Ministry of Industry & Trade and South Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy on cooperation in textile industry; and an MoU signed by heads of Samruk Energo of Kazakhstan, Korea Electric Power Corporation and Samsung Corp.

Besides, following the talks, a long-term agreement was signed between KazAtomProm national nuclear company of Kazakhstan and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Company to supply Kazakh yellowcake. There was also an agreement signed on public procurement of goods and services to create information-and-logistics system of KazPost Service.

At the suggestion of Prime Minister Han Seung-soo, a joint plan of actions will be adopted as part of strategic cooperation between the two nations, - Karim Massimov announced at a joint press conference.

“Our economies complement each other. There are prospects for cooperation. Outside extraction industries, there is a potential to be unleashed in the realms of IT infrastructure development, agriculture, construction and some others”, K. Massimov said.

The sides will also develop a plan of actions to cooperate in extraction industries that are of interest to the Korean side, K. Massimov added.

He expressed confidence that the first visit of the South Korea Prime Minister will bring forth concrete results.
