OREANDA-NEWS. On May 22, 2008 The Ukrainian national rating program Gvardiya’s “Ratings of Socially Responsible Companies" has awarded SCM with the highest rating, A+, taking into account a number of CSR indicators, reported the press-centre of SCM.

According to Gvardiya, SCM is the clear leader in four of seven the CSR categories used to judge performance, including: responsibility to the state, society, environment, and corporate development.

Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Director of International and Investor Relations at SCM, said: "SCM understands the importance of business for Ukraine’s economic and social development. To make our activity more effective, we have improved the CSR policies of the Group to ensure that they are integrated into business strategy.

Also, SCM is developing a number of projects in the area of social investment. The first project – in education - will be presented later this year. This will be a pilot project delivering for the first time in Ukraine, a national rating of higher education institutions. This is common in many European countries and we expect the rating to be published annually in the future.
