OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 May 2008 was announced, that PGNiG opened the Representative Office in Kiev. Opening of the Representative Office reflects the importance of cooperation with Ukrainian companies in oil and gas industry. The main task of the Representative Office will be: a facilitation of contacts between PGNiG and its Ukrainian Partners, e.g. Nak Naftogas Ukraine and UkrTransGas with respect strengthening cooperation and utilization of technical and financial potentials of the Partners, including the area of hydrocarbon production in Poland and in Ukraine.

Ukraine due to its location and large storage capacity is exceptionally important transit country for gas imported to Poland.

Transport of gas to Poland through Drozdowicze route amounts to 4 bln cubic meters per year. PGNiG is binded also with trade agreement with Nak Naftogas Ukraine, according to which gas is delivered to Hrubieszуw.

However, currently the quantities supplied are not significant (ca. 9 mln mіper year) but after finishing a development of infrastructure on Polish side it is planned to increase this quantity to 200 mln cubic meters.

Broader cooperation between these two companies was discussed in Kiev by Michaщ Szubski, President of PGNiG and Mirosщaw Dobrut, Vicepresident - responsible for gas and trade on Wednesday.
