OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2008. The Murmansk region would like to start exporting Gomel-made consumer goods and farm produce, chairman of the Murmansk Regional Duma Yevgeny Nikora told.

The northern region of Russia is keen to purchase tomatoes, cucumbers, black-eyed peas and other vegetables both fresh and processed. “We have visited the Brilevo company, one of the major agricultural companies of the region, and remained satisfied with the quality and volume of the production. In the next future we plan to work on the possibilities of bringing them to the Murmansk region market”, Yevgeny Nikora noted.

The Russian guests showed interest in the products of the Spartak confectionary, the 8 Marta and Komintern companies. According to Yevgeny Nikora, the Murmansk region intends to cooperate with Belarusian companies without middlemen. In this connection, Murmansk plans to consider an issue of opening a store that will sell a wide range of goods by these Gomel producers. “If all the plans materialize we can assist Gomel in promoting its goods to other north-western regions of Russia”, Yevgeny Nikora added.

A delegation of the Murmansk Regional Duma is in the Gomel oblast on a working visit on May 27-29. During the trip the guests got familiar with the work of such big companies of Gomel as Komintern, Spartak, Gomelsteklo, the Gomel meat-processing plant and the agricultural company Brilevo. The guests visited also the Gomel museum of war glory, the Vetka arts and crafts museum and the Rumyantsevs-Pashkevichs Palace. The Gomel oblast authorities and the Russian delegation signed a cooperation agreement between the Murmansk Regional Duma and the Gomel Oblast Council of Deputies.
