OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2008. According to the information, received the National Bank of Moldova, the monetary base’s increase was mainly due to increase of the net internal assets of the NBM.

According to the NBM, the volume of money in circulation increased from 6 billion 367,5 million lei in March, 2008, to 6 billion 749,9 million lei in April, 2008.

Within the monetary aggregate, the share of money in circulation decreased from 68% in March of the 2008 to 67,6% in April of the 2008.

At the same time, the share of bank reserves increased from 32% to 32,4%. The monetary aggregate M2 in April, 2008, increased by 927,7 million lei (4,9%) – up to 20 billion 42,2 million lei.

At the same time, the monetary aggregate M3 increased by 948,7 million lei (3,3%) and reached by the end of April 29 billion 425,1 million lei.

The increase of the M2 index was due do increase of the volume of cash in circulation by 382,4 million lei (6%), the balance of deposits in the national currency by 544,7 million lei (4,3%), as well as the balance of other monetary market’s instruments - by 0,6 million lei (9,4%).

According to the NBM, the deposits in the foreign currency of residents (in terms of lei) increased by 21 million lei (0,2%). The deposits, expressed in USD, increased by \\$21,9 million (2,5%).

The ratio of deposits in the foreign currency, in the lei equivalent, to the total volume of monetary aggregates, decreased from 32,9% in March to 31,9% in April of the 2008. The net international (convertible) reserves of the banking system decreased by \\$8,6 million, amounting to \\$1 billion 85,2 million. Within their structure the net international reserves of the NMB increased by \\$15,7 million, and of banks – decreased by \\$24,3 million.
