OREANDA-NEWS. June 4, 2008. RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with World Bank regional director Donna Dowsett-Coirolo and World Bank Armenia office representatives. Attended by RA President's chief economic adviser, the RA ministers of finance, economy, justice, education and science, health care, labor and social affairs, the CBA vice-president, the heads of the State Tax Service and the State Customs Committee, the meeting has discussed the WB report on Armenia's development policy alternatives for the period 2008-2012. In parallel to the efforts for building on the remarkable achievements had in terms of economic growth and poverty reduction, the report seeks to present basic policy alternatives for the defiance of those challenges facing the country. As assured by the World Bank regional director, together with the new government program and the revised version of the PRSP, this report is seen as a basis for the next 4 years' cooperation between the World Bank and the Government of Armenia.

Appreciative of this detailed and comprehensive paper, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan considered it to be the outcome of quite serious and important endeavors. He said that the report is in harmony with the program of his government, as a whole, and mentioned that there are some points in need of additional discussion with a view to defining the Government's approaches thereto. After such discussions have been held and summarized by the Prime Minister, their findings will be submitted to the World Bank for consideration.
