OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2008. In May 2008, a high-octane gasoline A-95 rose in prices by 7,7 percent on average, while cost of diesel fuel went up by 12,1 percent, and low-octane gasoline A-76 - by 7,6 percent. These are the results of the oil price monitoring carried out by the Economics Ministry.

From May 23 to May 30, an average retail price for oil products grew by 0,6-2,8 percent (1,7% average) in Ukraine.

Executive Director of United Petroleum Consultants (UPECO) Serhiy Kuyun forecasts that the present price for gasoline, A-95 at UAH 6,23/liter in particular, has reached a peak value and the market will see no fundamental changes in the near future.

At the same time he said that main attention will be now paid to diesel fuel. According to the expert, a growth potential of diesel fuel makes from 15 to 20 kopeks. Thus, retail prices may grow to UAH 6,65-6,70/liter (USD 1 - UAH 4.85).

He also warned against administrative regulation of oil products price. This will bring no results, Kuyun added.
