OREANDA-NEWS. On 07 June 2008 was announced, that American Airlines started its first flight from Chicago to Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport.

At the press conference dedicated to the launch of flights to this new destination Mr Sergey Rudakov, the Director of Domodedovo Airport Complex, said: “It was two years ago when we first said we were going to develop the American vector. And the day has finally arrived. Today, we “opened America”, and in partnership with the world’s largest air carrier, at that. Our objective now is to ensure connections of all Russian airlines with American Airlines flights using the Domodedovo airport transfer system”.

“From the economic viewpoint, the American vector is a growing and promising one. Many American companies operate in Russia these days. Furthermore, Moscow is becoming an ever more attractive cultural centre for foreigners. Chicago, in turn, is an important business and tourist centre of the United States”, said Mr Craig Kreeger, Senior Vice President of American Airlines.

American Airlines will operate its flights to Chicago daily except Sundays, and flights to Moscow – daily except Mondays. The flights will be operated by Boeing 777-200 accommodating 245 passengers, including 12 seats in the first class and 35 seats in the business class.

At present, American Airlines is the only air carrier to operate direct flights between Moscow and Chicago, the second largest city and one of the largest industrial and financial centres in the United States.
