OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 June 2008 was announced, that the achievement of 3, 000,000 man-hours working together without a Lost Time Accident by the entire organization, plant, port and mines is a landmark achievement representing teamwork and dedication at Alpart Alumina Refinery.

This excellent performance was recorded on Sunday May 11, 2008 and to date the refinery has gone ahead to 3,049,562 hours over the period 1 September 2007 to 15 May 2008.

Alberto Fabrini, Managing Director of Alpart Alumina Refinery, has described the performance as “a remarkable achievement which underscores the commitment of management and employees to achieving a zero injury workplace.”

In congratulating employees, Fabrini referred to the core values and beliefs of the company which states that “Alpart considers safety its number one priority – we will not compromise safety of our employees for profit.”

Moreover, Alpart Mining Division has now attained 5,583,221 man-hours and counting, which is also a tremendous achievement.

Alpart Alumina refinery (Jamaica) was commissioned in 1969. With annual production capacity of 1.044 mln tonnes of alumina, it currently employs 1350 people. Alpart is certified in compliance with the ISO 9001:2000 international standards of the quality management system.
