OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2008. A meeting of the Board was held in Communications and Information Agency of Uzbekistan. That gathering was participated by heads of departments, heads of joint stock companies, enterprises and organizations of the industry, reported the press-centre of Communications and Information Agency.
 
The Board discussed a topic devoted to usage of flexible multiplexing system (СГМ) and wireless technologies for telecommunications development in rural areas, for securing localities and economic organizations in rural areas with high quality telephone services.

The first Deputy General Director of JSC "Uzbektelecom" J. Makhsudov addressed a first item of the agenda. He noted that due to actions towards reconstruction of telecommunication system of the republic  the definite measures are being implemented to cover cities and rural areas of our country with modern telecommunication services.

Telecommunication network of JSC "Uzbektelecom" includes 1556 switching systems in rural areas with total capacity of 358,964 telephone numbers; 90744 of them or 25% are digital. There are 11 922 rural populated areas and 73% of them are covered by fixed-line services.

Number of basic telephone sets on telephone networks in rural areas increased by 1353 pcs. and amounted to 267098; 89% of them are installed in residential sector. Usage ratio on switching systems in rural areas was set at 75% as of 01.04.2008

In order to develop telecommunication networks in rural areas and to provide people and enterprises in rural areas with qualitative telephone services the JSC "Uzbektelecom" is expanding its CDMA-450 technology based network.

Based on positive results of testing the subsidiaries "Tashkent Telecom" and "Bukhara Telecom" roll out digital facilities "СГМ" manufactured by local supplier "Koinot".

This item was addressed by Director of "Koinot" S. Fakhrutdinov.

In accordance with Decree by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan  of 26 September 2002 No 3135 and Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of 27 September No 336 the "Koinot" was dedicated to organize domestic production of facilities for     implementation of information and communication technologies.
 
The speakers noted that a significant work has been done since 2003. More than 10 kinds of modern telecommunication equipment has been designed and put into operation. These facilities are used on telecommunication networks of  Uzbekistan.

The meeting was presided by the First Deputy General Director of Communications and Information Agency of Uzbekistan  A. Izbosarov.

The meeting took necessary decisions as for results of the meeting.
