OREANDA-NEWS. On June 07, 2008 a Sberbank delegation led by the Chairman of the Board and CEO Herman Gref took part in the XII St Petersburg International Economic Forum, reported the press-centre of Sberbank.

Sberbank’s exhibition stand at Lenexpo, under the slogan Sberbank: A Matter-of-Course Choice, was among the largest and presented a model of a new Sberbank office, The Bank of the Future.
On 7 June 2008 Sberbank’s stand was visited by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Herman Gref told Dmitry Medvedev about the new technologies that would make the Bank’s operations more efficient, more up-to-date, and more customised.

The key areas for Sberbank’s upgrade include a changeover to a paper-free technologies, a hi-tech office style and video facilities for the customer to contact the bank via computer and mobile phone.

Sberbank presented to Dmitry Medvedev one of its charity initiatives: a special coin series, proceeds from which are channelled into child support programmes.

Sberbank co-sponsored a conference, A Single Currency World. Economic Consequences of the Financial Crisis. Are the Central Banks Capable of Managing the Global Financial Risks? The Role of the International Financial Institutions, which was held on 7 June 2008.

Attended by the key global experts in economics and finance, the conference served as a platform for an exchange of views on the major aspects of global financial system development.
At the Forum, Sberbank signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Deutsche Bank. It contemplates further co-operation in offering efficient financial instruments to the customers and joint efforts on global capital markets in project financing, structured products, corporate, trade and export financing, and in the retail sector. Sberbank and Deutsche Bank will be working closely together to finance projects for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

The involvement of Herman Gref and other Sberbank representatives in the key events of the Forum, and Sberbank’s exhibition stand compelled the attention of the numerous participants and guests and helped to facilitate new relationships and further contacts between Sberbank and both domestic and global economic community.

Sberbank’s role as the General Partner of the XII St Petersburg International Economic Forum was appreciated by St Petersburg’s Governor Valentina Matvienko.
