OREANDA-NEWS. On June 05, 2008 The Fifth Ukrainian Investment Forum, “Ukraine 2008: Reality and Prospects,” took place in Kiev, reported the press-centre of Alfa-Bank.

The forum has become a long-standing tradition, and offers the perfect chance to present new opportunities to the investment business community in the dynamically growing Ukrainian market. Every year the forum is attended by business leaders and prominent political figures, including the largest portfolio investors, to share up-to-date information on the Ukrainian investment potential.

The forum was opened by Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the Head of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Mikhail Fridman, Chairman of the Alfa Group Supervisory Board. The event was attended by Alexander Shlapak, First Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine, Victor Panteleenko, Vice Minister of Economics, Petr Poroshenko, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Ukraine, Evgeny Chervonenko, Head of the National agency for EURO 2012 and Anatoly Balyuk, Head of Ukrainian State Commission on Securities and the Stock Market.

Participants of the forum discussed the future development of Ukrainian businesses, political risks, investment climate improvement opportunities and many other issues.

The forum was addressed by Igor Sirotenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Ukrtelecom; Andrei Fomenko, Director for research and analysis, Development Construction Holding; Pavel Fuks, Chairman of the Board, MosCityGroup; Igor Sypa, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Zapadenergo; Alexandra Kolenchuk, Marketing Director, Vinnifruit; David Holpert, Deputy Chairman of the Board, WJ Holding; Andrey Shevchenko, Business Development Director, HEKRO PET and other Ukrainian business representatives.

Key foreign and Ukrainian investors discussed potential opportunities that would be mutually beneficial, and assessed the development results of the Ukrainian stock market.

The Forum will continue with a trip to Odessa on 6-7 June. The participants will be given an opportunity to visit the site of the largest Ukrainian investment and construction group, Progress-Stroy, one of the most efficient oil refineries LUKOIL-Odesskiy NPZ, and meet with Edward Gurvitz, Mayor of Odessa.
