OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2008. In the first five months of 2008, the crude oil and petroleum products transshipment company Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd, which is a JSC Ventspils nafta subsidiary, has transshipped more than 5 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products or 0,1 million tons more than during an analogue period in 2007.

In the period of January-May in 2008, the structure of the transshipped cargos at Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd is formed by 4.4 million tons of diesel fuel delivered via petroleum products pipeline and by rail, 0.6 million tons of gasoline of various grades transported by rail and 0.5 million tons of crude oil and petroleum product cargos delivered by sea. More than 0.1 million tons of other types of petroleum products have been transported by rail.

Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd has transshipped 0.9 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products in May.

Cargo amount at Ventspils nafta terminals has increased gradually since 2007, when the company resumed receiving diesel fuel from petroleum products pipeline and started valuable cooperation with the company of international oil and gas consortium Vitol Group, which is a co-owner of JSC Ventspils nafta and Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd.

The management of Ventspils nafta terminals Ltd has publicly informed about the plans of terminal modernization in order to ensure more efficient work of the company according to the necessity set by market situation and the international practice standards of Vitol. These plans include optimization of all types of resources used in the working process at the terminal, as well as increasing environment protection requirements. It is planned that operation of the company in long-term perspective will be favoured by implementation of the large-scale modernization program commenced in the terminal.
