There are 136 houses to be demolished by 2010, Fazil Izmaylov, first deputy prefect of the northern administrative district of Moscow, noted.

According to him, a number of people waiting for flats in the district is falling. “There were 67,800 people queued up for accommodation in 2004. Now the number has been reduced to 63,400,” Mr Izmaylov added.

The city authorities of Moscow promise that all new buildings, including social objects, dwelling houses and road facilities, will be adapted for disable and handicapped people.

A transport problem in the district is to be solved by completing the reconstruction of Leningradsky Prospekt, the construction of a road interchange at the intersection of Leningradskoe Highway and Volokolamskoe Highway near Sokol metro station and the construction of a tunnel under the line to Riga of Moscow Railways. The reconstruction of Dmitrovskoe Highway from the small ring of Moscow Railways up to Korovinskoe Highway will also help to make the roads less busy.
