OREANDA-NEWS. June 18, 2008. Two disk penstock seals were delivered to the warehouse of hydropower equipment of Dagestan Branch JSC “HydroOGK”.
 
These disk penstock seals of 4000 mm diameter were manufactured at RESITA factory (Timishuara, Romania) and designed to seal the penstocks through which the water is coming down into hydroelectric generators at Gelbakh HPP.

Each disk penstock seals costs 73 million rubles. “Energostroy Ltd.” Performs assembling and installation of the seals.

Gelbakh HPP is the third hydropower plant of Chirurt power complex; it is of 44 MW (2х22 MW) installed capacity. It is located downstream from the existing Chirurt HPP-1 on the right bank of the Sulak River not far from Gelbakh villages. Gelbakh HPP is a part of Sulak HPPs Cascade. Construction of Gelbakh HPP began in November of 2004. The First hydroelectric generator was put into service in November of 2006; the second one was put into operation in a month. In March of 2007 the station was put into industrial operation.
