OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 June 2008 OJSC FETEC announced the change in company trade name in English.

Previously used OJSC FETEC has been replaced by OJSC Far East Telecom in pursuance of the Resolution for approval of Company restated Articles of Association entered by Meeting of Shareholders on June 11th 2008.

In accordance with Cl. 2.4 of Company Articles of Association trade names of OJSC FETEC shall be now as follows:

OJSC Far East Telecommunications Company – full name,

OJSC Far East Telecom – short name.

The reason for the change in company name is that previous abbreviation FETEC is widely used in Internet as a name of different foreign organizations, which are not related to OJSC Far East Telecom activities. English-speaking audience uses several names for the Company, such as Far East Telecom, Dalsvyaz, FETEC, Far East Telecommunications Company and Dalnevostochnaya Kompaniya Electrosvyazi. The large number of names impedes company positioning in international community.

“In our work we cooperate with Russian and foreign companies. A lot of banks and financial institutions from different countries of the world are our shareholders. It is very important for us to make our business clear for our partners, shareholders and investors. The new name represents the nature of our business, industry and region of operation”, - noticed Sergey Frolov, Deputy General Director, OJSC Far East Telecom Director for Economy and Finance.
