OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2008. Stroytransgaz has started welding work for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium at the 0-116 kilometer section. This is a pipeline replacement project in Atyrau Oblast (Republic of Kazakhstan). Agreement with project customer Caspian Pipeline Consortium-K was signed on   January 31, 2008.

Stroytransgaz will procure and deliver materials (excluding materials and equipment with long delivery time procured by CPC) and build the new pipeline section. The facility, which will run 130.3 kilometers and have a diameter of 1,020 millimeters diameter, will be laid in a new route. When it is completed and the newly constructed section is tied into the existing pipeline, Stroytransgaz will dismantle the old, decommissioned section of the oil pipeline.

Kazakhstan companies and specialists are taking an active part in implementing the project. Particularly, Kazakhstan Institute of Oil and Gas has developed engineering and design documentation for CPC that take into consideration the latest requirements for technical parameters of the system. Subcontractors taking part in construction are Kazhimmontazh Holding, Sparta, ABS, and Defectoscopiya.
