OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2008. In the framework of the TAIEX project (Technical Assistance Information Exchange Instrument) of the European Commission and in order to exchange the experience in the field of public procurement control the seminar "Public Procurements in the European Union" that was organized in the FAS Russia.

The representatives of the European Union' government agencies and representatives of the Central and Regional Offices of the FAS Russia participated in the seminar.

During this seminar the following issues were discussed:

- The main features of the European Commission' implementation of Public Procurement legislative package;
- The practice of the EU Procurement directives' implementation in Romania and France;
- Electronic way of public procurement (E-Procurement), applied widely all over the Europe, and also EU Public Procurement directives' implementation and opportunities for its future development in Latvia;
- European regulation of concessions and public-private partnerships in Latvia;
- EU activities in the field of Green Procurement and the evidence of importance of public procurement, which priority criterion is environmental protection;
- Features of procurement' centralization, including public procurement, in Italy;

This seminar is of great importance taking into account the current dialogue on public procurements within the framework of Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and the Russian Federation.

As a result of this seminar in Moscow the representatives of the European Commission and the FAS Russia decided to continue effective cooperation in the field of public procurements by means of further negotiations and exchange of necessary information on this issue.
