OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 June 2008 was announced, that the buried structures worked out less than 8 per cent in the total volume of the structures have been built in Moscow for the last 5 years, the city mayor Yuri Luzhkov said at a grand opening of the 1st International conference aimed at using the foreign and domestic experience of underground building during the developing of the underground area of Moscow.

The workshop was conducted on June 20 by the Department of city-planning policy, development and reconstruction of Moscow under the auspices of Moscow City Hall. It involved more than 200 Russian and foreign participants.

The conference was organized in aid of studying the international experience of developing the underground area, introducing the up-to-date foreign and domestic designs, technologies and organizational decisions at elaboration and implementation of the City task medium-term program of developing the underground area in 2009-2011 and the mainstreams of developing the underground urbanization of Moscow for subsequent years.

The lineup for the conference included the famous Russian scientists and specialists in the underground urbanization: the academicians of Russian Academy of Sciences, of Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, World Academy of Science for Complex Security, the chancellors and experts of the leading construction institutions of Russia, the key specialists of the construction organizations. The foreign scientists were presented by guests from the Netherlands, Sweden, Montenegro and Germany.

A project of Memorandum that will be improved considering the suggestions and remarks given out during a numerous speeches was approved at the end of the conference.
