OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2008. A thick commercial gas inflow with the flow rate of over one million cubic metres was received at exploratory well 37 drilled by the specialists of the Lebapnebitgazgozleg Department of the Turkmengeologiya State Concern in the Bagaja field. Its project depth is over 3,000 metres. At present the specialists test the well to calculate the parameters of the newly-struck productive stratum.

Bagaja is one of the most prospective gas condensate fields in the Lebap Velayat. A major amount of liquefied gas produced there is exported and gas condensate is supplied to the Seidi oil refinery where it is processed into high-quality light oil products, which are of great demand in the world markets.

Currently, Lebap oil and gas industry workers are engaged in the activities on commercial production of pools and well testing and the intensive exploration works to discover new hydrocarbon productive strata in Bagaja, and therefore to strengthen the raw materials base of oil and gas industry. To achieve this goal is a priority task for Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector that will enable to increase hydrocarbon production and processing and to expand the range of petrochemicals produced in the country.

Exploration works are accelerated on the right bank of the Amu Darya River that provides the vast opportunities to develop oil and gas production in Lebap Velayat. Today the total volume of ‘blue fuel’ reservoirs on the right bank of the Amu Darya River is estimated at 1.3 billion. It was there that the Turkmen-China gas pipeline started from. Last summer the project works were launched in the Samandepe field included in the Bagtyyarlyk contractual territory.

The abundant oil and gas reserves of Lebap are convincingly proved by the Yashildepe field. Lebap oil industry workers started to produce ‘black gold’ there over three years ago and have produced over 1.5 million tons of hydrocarbons in the period.

During the recent visit to the Lebap Velayat President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov set the new tasks to Turkmen oil industry workers – to increase oil production to 2,000 tons a day. Having intensified exploratory and production drilling the subdivisions considerably increase fuel production. At the request of the Turkmenneft State Concern the specialists of the Ojak Drilling Department completed to drill well 019 with the project depth of 3,100 meters. While testing this well the oil inflow with the flow rate of about 50 tones was received.

Thus, through consistently implementing the effective strategy on development of the fuel and energy sector the abundant reserves of the hydrocarbon deposits of Bagaji, Yashildepe and other fields in the Lebap Velayat will be paced at the service of the Turkmen people serving as a pledge of the welfare and prosperity of independent neutral Turkmenistan in the nearest future.
