OREANDA-NEWS. July 4, 2008. Introduction of Bank of Moscow cards with a cashfree travel payment function has been recognised as a success. The experiment has been under way since 2006 and over 42 thousand cards have so far been issued with special chips similar to those used in the payment cards for the Moscow metro. The cards may be used to pay for travel on the Metro, with the cost of each subsequent journey during the month costing the same as a season ticket. Muscovites have naturally appreciated this and more than 4 million of them now use cashfree travel payment cards when travelling by Metro.

"Today, Bank of Moscow cards with the cashfree travel payment functions are an officially recognised means for paying for travelling on the Metro", says Alexei Kletsko, Managing Director of the "Retail Business block. "I believe that the given product will enjoy particular demand among Muscovites, since clients do not need to check on the number of journeys remaining or stand in a queue to obtain a new season ticket".
