OREANDA-NEWS. July 7, 2008. In January-June, Free Port of Ventspils (Latvia) handled 14.9 million tonnes of cargo (-7%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports.

In the reported period, transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 3.2%, year-on-year, to 9.792 million tonnes, loose cargo – by 13.6% to 4.063 million tonnes.
Transshipment of ammonia grew by 42%, grain – by 10%, coal – by 8%.
The port of Ventspils is the largest port in Latvia in terms of throughput. In 2007, the port handled 31.037 million tonnes of cargo (+6.8%, year-on-year).
