OREANDA-NEWS. On 07 July 2008 was announced, that the II International Conference “Russian Offshore Oil and Gas Development: Arctic and Far East” (ROOGD-2008) hosted by VNIIGAZ will be held on 17-18 September 2008. The Conference will focus on relevant issues of geological survey and development of offshore oil and gas fields. Other issues under discussion will include specific features of offshore oil & gas production technologies, main trends in the development of such technologies,  industrial and environmental safety on the shelf of Arctic and Far East, normative base elaboration. Special emphasis of the conference will be put on discussion on oil and gas fields development in the Barents and the Kara Seas, the Ob and the Tazov Bays, on the Sakhalin shelf.

The shelf of the Arctic and the Far East Seas of Russia represents a good platform for prospective development of oil & gas offshore production technologies. At the same time severe climatic and ice conditions make upstream development more challenging. For the effective project implementation in these regions efforts the leading Russian and foreign oil and gas companies shall be combined.
