OREANDA-NEWS. July 9, 2008. Nikolay Kolesnikov, Executive Vice-President of Sovcomflot, participated in the XXI Annual Marine Money Conference. The event took place in New York City and was attended by the representatives of the major shipping companies, classification societies, and the largest investment banks involved with ship finance.

The issues addressed at the conference covered the shipping industry in general, the state of the US economy and the stock market.

When addressing the conference participants, Mr. Kolesnikov spoke about Sovcomflot’s involvement in the implementation of long-term industrial projects, such as the development of shipments from the offshore oilfields in Russia’s Arctic region. The company’s fleet already includes unique ice-class shuttle tankers of the Vasily Dinkov type, used to transport crude oil from the Varandey terminal in the Barents Sea. In the future, however, Sovcomflot’s activities will not be limited to the transportation of hydrocarbons by sea, but will also include the provision of technical support for terminals and drilling rigs, the transshipment of crude oil via floating storage and offloading systems (FSO), and the wider development of effective logistical solutions for energy transportation.
