OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 July 2008 was announced, that the Fifth TVEL Corporation - Business Partners meeting took place on 18-20 of June.

The Russian party was represented in the event by management and representatives of JSC “Atomenergoprom”, RSC “Kurchatovsky Institute”, FSUE “Concern “Rosenergoatom”, JSC “Tekhsnabexport”, EDO “Gidropress”.

A scientific workshop “TVEL Corporation. Nuclear fuel for NPP. Status and prospects” was held within the frames of the event. It was headed by the director of JSC “Atomenergoprom” Vladimir Travin. In his speech he marked the great scientific and production achievements of TVEL Corporation, its role in establishing constructive cooperation with foreign partners, and wished every success in further improvement of the Russian nuclear fuel, stressing that TVEL Corporation is one of the main constituents of JSC “Atomenergoprom”.

JSC “TVEL” President Yuri Olenin paid attention to the important role played by the Corporation’s partners in nuclear fuel improvement. “Progress in nuclear research largely depends on active international dialogue, exchange of opinions, knowledge, technologies,” he said.

Reliability, quality and performance of fuel with TVEL brand once again received the highest appraisal of foreign partners. In particular, the director for purchasing of nuclear fuel of the Finish concern Fortum Generation Ossi Koskivirta underlined: “TVEL fuel has been always noted for high quality, which is confirmed by its stable operation on Loviisa NPP for decades”.

In his turn, the Board member of the Czech power company CEZ Vladimir Glavinka noted the positive experience of TVEL fuel operation on Dukovany NPP: “Its technical parameters are improving constantly. I am sure that on Temelin NPP TVEL fuel that will substitute Westinghouse fuel will demonstrate excellent results”.

The work of TVEL Corporation was also highly estimated by the senior vice-president of AREVA NP Wolfgang Sowa, who noted “high quality of the Russian fuel”.

In cooperation with AREVA NP TVEL Corporation supplied more than 1700 fuel assemblies to Reactors in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden.

The participants were offered rich cultural program. The guests made a boat trip along Neva river, saw the collection of paintings at “The Russian Museum”, visited Yusupov and Sheremetyev palaces.
