The restyling of new model required nearly USD 17 million including production localization expenses. The peculiarity of the project is that the Nexia modernization involved Europe and Asia’s eight biggest companies and Uzbek designers.

Modern development in the conception of new Nexia’s design indicates new sporting and dynamic shapes of the vehicle. At the same time, the restyling preserved such features as reliability, safety and perfect maneuverability.

The modernized Nexia is more advanced and dynamic, experiencing a number of changes in its exterior and interior but preserving availability, economical properties and quality. Exterior changes mainly touched upon its front and rear bumpers, headlights, radiator enclosure, secondary and backlights, sidelights and fog lights.

The Nexia’s boot faced some changes as well. The place of number plate transformed from its bumper to boot and boot spoiler makes Nexia more original.

The new Nexia’s interior is changed at all. Its new dashboard and cantilever were made under new technologies and have improved construction. The driving wheel has a modernized and improved structure. The cover of its doors faced considerable changes and made of injection forming of polyethylene materials and seats and headsets made of the new material as well.

The new Nexia enters markets in two variants with three engine types: 1.5 liter engine with 75 and 85 horsepower and 1.6 liter engine with of 105 horsepower. Its engine coincides with Euro 3.

The new Nexia is sold in the home market under the brand of Chevrolet and exported under Daewoo through the JSC Uzavtosanoat’s dealers. This year the company intends to sell 72 thousand Nexia, Matiz and Damas in the home market.

The JV GM Uzbekistan was set up last autumn. Its founders are JSC Uzavtosanoat having stockholding of 75% and the world’s biggest corporation, leader of the world’s automobile industry General Motors whose shareholding in the JV GM Uzbekistan is 25% plus one stock.

The range of car models manufactured in Asaka included three new Chevrolet models: Captiva, Epica and Takuma.

We should note that the world’s biggest car manufacturer set up co-production of cars in CIS and East Europe but the JV GM Uzbekistan has the highest capacity among GM’s another six companies in Russian Federation, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Poland. The output growth rate continues increasing. For instance, between January and April this year the Asaka company’s output grew 23.3% in comparison with the last year.

This growth tendency will keep on because at the moment the company is optimizing its production. Today the Asaka company assembles Captiva, Epica and Takuma. Experts estimate that soon the localization rate will increase and Uzbek spare part manufacturers can enter the world market which promises good profit to both manufacturers and the country in whole. For instance, last year the output of spare parts grew 24.6% and this year it is keeping on.
