OREANDA-NEWS. July 10, 2008. Moldova will receive from the International Development Association the loan of \\$ 14 million for implementation of the National Water Supply and Sewerage Project.

It is provided by the agreement for financing the corresponding project signed by the parties on June 2, 2008 and ratified by the parliament.

The loan will be provided on the standard conditions of the International Association for Development, repayable in 40 years, including grace period of 10 years, under the loan rate of 0.75% and commission of the remaining unused funds not exceeding 0.5% p.a.

The main goal of the project is restoration of water and sewage systems in seven towns of Moldova (Balti, Cahul, Causeni, Floresti, Orhei, Soroca and Ungheni), as well as restoration / construction of potable water systems in social facilities in 50 villages of Moldova.

In addition, one of the components of the project provides measures for improving power efficiency, aimed at reducing electricity consumption at pumping stations of Apa-Canal. The implementation of the project will support the Governmental efforts in raising living standards of population through rehabilitation and development of potable water systems.

Furthermore, it is expected that quality of water will be improved due to undertaken measures on restoration and re-equipment of cleaning water stations that will positively affect the health of the citizens.
