OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2008. SIBUR has published its social report for 2007 on its official website (www.sibur.ru) in the section "Social Responsibility".

Unlike many similar documents, this report is aimed primarily at company personnel.  Its dialogue form, in which corporate leaders give direct answers to questions that concern employees, was an important element in developing an effective model for the company’s social development.  The document’s structure and style represent a model for interaction with interested groups that is vital but has not yet become widespread in Russia.

The document also presents the company’s consolidated expenditures for social policy measures, occupational safety, and charity.  Total costs in these areas amounted to over 1.8 billion rubles in 2007 (in 2006 that figure was slightly over 1 billion rubles).  In particular, 1.3 billion rubles was allocated for maintenance of the social sphere and social benefits, while 367 million rubles were allocated for occupational safety measures and 94 million rubles for staff training.

During the next month, the social report will be presented publicly and discussed at meetings with trade unions, work teams, the mass media, and representatives of local communities.

The composition and presentation of the social report reflect the company’s aspiration to take advantage of cutting-edge international experience in establishing a constant dialogue with all interested groups within the context of securing stable business development.
