OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2008. In H1 2008 the Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) posted the sales of USD 1 billion 26 million. 90% of the output was exported, BMZ director general Nikolai Andrianov told a press conference on July 16.

According to him, the sales are quite high comparing to USD 1 billion in the whole 2006. This year the sales will hit USD 2 billion. “To double sales in two years is impressive progress,” he said.

Nikolai Andrianov also informed that the manufacture per one worker at BMZ accounted for USD 180,000 last year while five years ago it was USD 20,000. This year the index will be well above USD 200,000. “According to international standards, steel production is recognized efficient at USD 180,000. We having been working to reach this figure for five years and will beat it this year,” he said.

According to Nikolai Andrianov, the designed capacity is 700,000 tonnes per year. In 2008 the output will reach 2.5 million tonnes. For the past five years the output of cord has upped 4.5 times, that of wire has quadrupled.

In 2006-2007 the Belarusian Steel Works was recognized best company in terms of quality of products and most efficient steel plant in the CIS.
