OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2008. The currency reserves of the National Bank of Moldova in the first half of 2008 have increased by USD192,27 million (14,4 %) totaling by the end of June USD 1525,95 billion.

The National Bank of Moldova provided this information specifying that the NBM currency reserves, as of the beginning of this year, made USD 1333,68 billion , while at the end of the first quarter of 2008 they equaled USD 1 424,29 billion.

Growth of the currency reserves in the first quarter of the current year made USD 90,61 million (6,8%).

It should be noted that the new historical maximum of the NBM currency reserves equal to USD 1,5 billion was surpassed at the end of June of this year.

The historical limit of USD 1 billion was surpassed at the end of August 2007. By the end of 2008, the Government of Moldova plans to increase the National Bank’s currency reserves up to USD 1,7 billion.
