OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2008. In January-May, 2008, the volume of remittances to Moldova from the individuals from abroad amounted to USD606, 07 million, increasing by 1,6 times in comparison with the same period of the same year.

This was informed in NBM, noting that out of total transfers in the first five months of this year, more than USD 456.5 million (75.3%), were received through fast money transfer systems.

In particular, in January 2008, remittances from abroad amounted to USD 89.72 million, in February – to USD 104.55 million, in March – to USD 126.4 million, in April – to USD 155.65 million, in May – to USD 129.75 million.

In Moldova currently operate the following fast money transfer systems: Anelik, Posta rapida, Blizko, Strada Italia, BESXpress, Coinstar (Travelex), Caspian Money Transfer, Trabex, Contact Turkiye Express, Grecia Transfer, Unistream, Inter Expres, Uno Money Transfers , Leader, Western Union, Migom Xpress, Money, Money Gram, Privat Money.

As InfoMarket agency informed before, total remittances from abroad amounted to USD 1 billion 218.23 million, increasing by 42.3% as compared to 2006. Russia and Italy are the leaders in this field. According to the World Bank, remittances of Moldovan guest-workers constitute about 1 third of the country's GDP.
