OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 July 2008 was announced, that Ingosstrakh has paid USD 2,700,000 in compensation to the ship owner for the loss of Panama-flagged cargo vessel Rezzak. On February 17, 2008 cargo vessel Rezzak carrying a cargo of metal left Novorossiysk Seaport (Russia) to Bartin (Turkey). On February 18 2008 the International Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Turkey, made an official notification of lost contact with the vessel and a crew of 25. The vessel never reached the destination port. The intensive search which engaged marine vessels and aircrafts did not deliver any positive results. The search considered several versions of the incident. According to the Coastal Guards of Turkey, the proof spotted drifting on the surface of the sea and scattered along the shoreline confirms that the ship sank and the crew are dead due to bad weather.After the investigation was completed, IJSC Ingosstrakh acknowledged total loss of the ship and paid a compensation of USD 2,700,000 to the insurant, therefore discharging all of its obligations under the hull insurance policy.

According to Vadim Semienkov, Head of Ingosstrakh Claims Section, historical statistics show that navigation in the Black Sea during autumn and winter months involves high degree of risk.
