OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 July 2008 was announced, that Vyacheslav I. Sherbakov, who was President of Ingosstrakh since 2004 and chaired its Board of Directors in 2007, was awarded the Nation’s Glory 1st Degree Gold Medal as part of the National Public Award for his immense contribution to the welfare of Russia (Nation’s Glory). Vyacheslav Sherbakov’s name will be immortalized in stone in the Valley of Glory in the 850th Anniversary of Moscow Park.

On July 18 this year the President Hotel hosted a ceremony dedicated to the honoring of Award winners. TV host, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Nikolay N. Drozdov and Honored Artist of Russia, Chief Architect of Dobry Angel Architectural and Park Preserve Pyotr T. Stronsky delivered the award (the medal, gratuity ribbon, merit certificate and a merit badge) conferred upon Vyacheslav Sherbakov post mortem to his widow, Tatyana Sherbakova. The medal is awarded for self-sacrificing effort for the benefit of Russia.

Vyacheslav Sherbakov is the patriarch of insurance in Russia. He dedicated all of his life to developing this industry in Russia and spent 40 years with Ingosstrakh. Vyacheslav Sherbakov has deserved his immense authority, unlimited liking and genuine respect of his colleagues and partners both in Russia and abroad. His warmth and readiness to help made him be admired by everyone who chanced to meet him. Vyacheslav Sherbakov made a tremendous contribution to support and develop Russian orthodoxy, culture, arts and sports. His special and very intense focus was on the needs of veterans and sick children.

Earlier, V. Sherbakov was awarded a Medal of Friendship, St. Alexander Nevsky 1st Degree Medal and a number of awards from the Ministry of Domestic Affairs of Russia, Ministry of Finance of Russia and others.

IJSC Ingosstrakh was nominated gold winner of the Nation’s Glory Award. The award was handed over to Vice President Ilya Solomatin. According to him, ‘it is a great honor for the company and it is an acknowledgement of the company’s merits and its contribution to cementing proprietary and financial interests of the country, its people and companies.’

Among the guests and laureates of the Award for the contribution to the welfare of Russia at the award ceremony there were People’s Artist of Russia Zurab Sotkilava, actress Ludmila Kasatkina, two times Hero of the USSR space pilot Alexey Leonov, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Igor Artemiev and others.
