OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2008. The insurance company ROSNO has started payments to those tourists who suffered from the non-performance by the tour operator DETOUR of its obligations under the tour product sales contracts, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The insurer has paid its first insurance compensations to the aggrieved tourists who had furnished ROSNO with applications for payment of insurance compensations and provided the documents required to establish the fact of default and determine the amount of inflicted damage, as stipulated by the Federal Law "On the Principles of the Tourist Activities in the Russian Federation" dated 24 November 1996 No.132-FZ.

ROSNO will compensate the damage arising either in connection with impossibility of traveling due to the tour operator’s failure to provide the required documents (vouchers, tourist passes, or air tickets), or in connection with additional costs incurred by those who were already in Turkey, such as expenses on full or partial payment for their accommodation for all days of their stay, due to DETOUR’s failure to pay for the previously booked rooms.

"With regard to mass media publications of the incompetent statements newly made by representatives of a number of public associations and initiative groups about the situation arising in connection with default of the Russian tour operator DETOUR and about ROSNO’s delays in paying insurance compensations to the tourists, we would like to note that we continue to receive applications from tourists. Despite the fact that now it is less than one month past the date when we received the first such application, ROSNO has already started paying insurance compensations to the tourists. All applications from the tourists having submitted all necessary documents are examined and processed within 30 days. The list of necessary documents is determined by law and can be accessed on ROSNO website", commented Ms. Galina Goulyaeva, Director of Liability Insurance Centre of ROSNO.
