OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 July 2008 was announced, that the city authorities of Moscow plan to overhaul 13,000 houses built till 1991 within the urban program.

“In total the urban program of overhaul of housing scheduled till 2014 includes 13,000 houses built till 1991. It doesn’t include only five-storey houses with floor timbers, the fate of which is being decided according to the other programs,” Artur Keskinov, head of Department of Complete Overhaul of Moscow Housing, said.

According to the official, no one in Russia can be compared to Moscow according to the scale of this overhaul. “The program has been written evenly. Approximately 170 houses are being overhauled in each district [of Moscow]. Fewer houses are being overhauled in the centre and in Zelenograd [district] where the housing stock is smaller,” he added.

Mr Keskinov noted that more than 80 houses with turnkey apartments have been commissioned since the start of 2008 when the urban program was launched.

“I believe that no fewer than 1,000 houses would be commissioned by October 2008. The work is in full swing at the majority of the objects,” the head of Department of Complete Overhaul of Moscow Housing concluded.
