OREANDA-NEWS. August 01, 2008. Sale of Krym, Simferopol beer and soft drinks producer, has been completed. EMPORIUM-K (fully belongs to SCM Group) passes the control over 93.98% of Krym Brewery to a new owner that will continue producing beer and soft drinks at the plant, reported the press-centre of SCM.

The parties agreed not to reveal details of the deal including information about the buyer.

SCM is a professional investor that owns and controls assets in mining and metals, energy-generation, telecommunications, banking, insurance, media as well as in retail and real estate.

SCM Group includes Metinvest Holding, DTEK, Farlep-Invest, Optima-Telecom, Segodnya Multimedia, TRK Ukraina, ESTA Holding, Ukrainskiy Retail, and others.

SCM is the biggest investor in the Ukrainian economy. The approved development strategy of the Group provides for at least US10bn of investment over 2008-2012.

ZAO SCM is 90% owned by businessman Rinat Akhmetov.

Krym, Simferopol Brewery and Soft Drinks Plant, was commissioned in 1982. First beer was brewed on 19 May and the first year saw the company producing 2,272,000 decaliters of beer. The plant ranks among the biggest Ukrainian breweries (with annual design capacity of 10m decaliters) and operates the latest highly efficient equipment. It can brew high-quality beer and make soft drinks in the quantities required to cover needs of the Crimea and Southern region of Ukraine.
