OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 August 2008 was announced, that development of the power sector of Siberia and the Far East, integration processes in electric power industry of these regions and the countries of Asian and Pacific Ocean Region become a subject of discussions at two actions of the Baikal Economic Forum.

According to the BEF's press centre, this will be VI International Conference "Power Cooperation in Asia: Forecasts and Reality" (АЕС-2008) and a round table and a debating platform "Realization of Infrastructural Projects: a Basis of Strategy of Economic Development of Siberia and Far East Regions". According to the organizing committee for carrying out BEF, the Council of Federation as for the subject of development of the power supply system will be represented by the Vice-President of the commission for the natural monopolies of the Council of Federation Valentine Mezhevich.

The debating platform will be devoted to discussion of several practical issues. Including the "North" project of Irkutskenergo which assumes connection of the power supply system of the Irkutsk area integrated into a global power supply system of the country with a local power supply system of Yakutia. The project has been already developed, but the source of financing has not been defined yet. The opportunity of application for its financing from Investment Fund of the Russian Federation is considered, according to the press release information.

Also detailed consideration of financing and realization of the "Bottom Angarsk Territory" (Krasnoyarsk region) is planned which assumes completion of construction of Boguchansk Hydroelectric Power Station and creation of several power-intensive enterprises.

The subject of mutual relations of the power intensive enterprises with the power companies will be separately considered. It is supposed that large consumers of the electric power can represent themselves as investors or proprietors of energy generating companies.
