OREANDA-NEWS. From 1 August 2008, old age pensions in Belarus have been raised by 11.2 per cent on average with a view to improving social security provision for pensioners and meeting the targets of the national social and economic development forecast for the year 2008 with respect to pension provision, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.

The respective Decree was signed by the President of the Republic of Belarus on 4 August.

As a result of the rise, an average old age pension in Belarus will amount to Br 408,100 in August.
