OREANDA-NEWS. On August 01, 2008 the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against the following insurance companies: "Ingosstrakh" Open Joint-Stock Insurance Company, "AlphaStrakhovaniе" OJSC, "Gefest" Open Joint-Stock Insurance Company, "RESO-Garantia" Open Joint-Stock Insurance Company, "Rosgosstrakh" OJSC, "Soglasie" Insurance Company" Ltd. and "SOGAZ" OJSC, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

These insurance companies singed a contract on creating the Sochi Insurance Pool. FAS Russia believes that the contract contravenes Parts 1 and 2 Article 11 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" (competition-restrictive agreements or concerted actions of economic entities).

Members of the Sochi Insurance Pool, formerly the Olympic Insurance Pool, asked the Government of the Russian Federation to support the pool initiative and the idea that insurance companies for comprehensive insurance coverage of the "Sochi-2014" project should be selected through the open tender only among insurance companies - members of the pool.

The case will be heard on 10th September 2008.
