OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 August 2008 was announced, that the Moscow Government plans to erect 20 hotels in the city in the second half of 2008.

“8 objects of the hotel sector were completed in the first half of 2008. However, we are to place 20 hotels more in operation this year,” Vladimir Resin, first deputy Moscow City Mayor, head of Associate Board of Architecture, Construction, Development and Reconstruction of Moscow, told journalists on August 7.

According to the official, the builders of Moscow “succeeded in pulling up the construction of hotels and there is no doubt that we will complete the plans by the end of 2008”.

“The biggest volume of works to do remained in the central administrative district where 14 hotels are to be commissioned as well as 2 ones in the northern administrative district and one in each of the eastern, northeastern, northwestern and western administrative districts,” Mr Resin said.

According to experts, at the end of 2007 Moscow had 217 hotels with the total number of rooms of more than 35,000, including 2,863 rooms in 5-star hotels and 6,120 rooms in 4-star hotels.
