OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 August 2008 was announced, that the Moscow City Government is to rebuild one of the townships in South Ossetia which have been wrecked by the Georgia’s hostilities against the republic.

“We plan to restore a township, home to 3,000-4,000 people, and to create a complete social infrastructure with kindergartens, schools and hospitals there,” Aleksandr Kosovan, head of Department of Urban Development of Moscow, declared at a meeting of the delegation from Moscow with Nikolay Khlyntsov, chairman of the South Ossetia Government, on August 12.

“We are to build a new town, a modern one,” Mr Khlyntsov claimed talking about the reconstruction plan of Tskhinvali.

“Moscow wants to leave fond memories of itself having restored the whole township in Tskhinvali and to name it Moskovsky,” Mr Kosovan said.

During the meeting the representatives of the governments of Moscow and South Ossetia discussed variants of the aid Moscow can render to the destroyed town. According to Mr Kosovan, the workers of Mosvodokanal have formed two groups which are ready to reinstate the water supply by a reserve system using fire hoses. The experts in power, heat and gas supply are also ready to come to Tskhinvali.

The officials have reached an accommodation that Moscow Railway would help to provide transportation of the necessary goods and construction materials for Tskhinvali through Vladikavkaz.

Following the results of the meeting the representatives of the governments of Moscow and South Ossetia intend to sign a protocol on cooperation between Moscow, North Ossetia and South Ossetia.
