OREANDA-NEWS. On 15 August 2008 was announced, that IDGC of Centre, JSC is the first Russian company to participate in the competition for reception of the Business Process Excellence Award of IPMA (International Project Management Association).

The representatives of the International Project Management Association started working at the Company for the purpose of estimation of the project "Development of IT-System" from the moment of its creation up to its realization.

For three days, from 13 August to 15 August, experts of IPMA from Denmark, England, Poland, Germany, Russia will work in the building of the central body of the company. "Today, in first half of the day, we shall examine the company as a whole and listen to presentations of participants of the project; in the evening we shall concentrate attention to specifying questions of top level for improvement of understanding. At the tomorrow's sessions, it is supposed to examine in detail managerial experience," the head of the assessment group Grzegorz Szalajko said, "And on 15 August we shall look again at the project in general". Mr. Grzegorz also emphasized that activity of the association is estimation of excellence in project management, rather than  audit, the aim of which is studying conformity with standards. And it is estimation of excellence in project management that is the goal of work of the "Project Excellence" model, under which the given noncommercial association works.

The general director of IDGC of Centre, project head - deputy director for IT and management technologies Pavel Obukhov, top managers of the company, and participants of the project from firms-partners in solemn atmosphere welcomed IPMA's assessment group.

Evgeny Makarov made a presentation od the interregional distribution grid company of Centre for the foreigners specyfuing its activity in the power industry of Russia and the completed reform of the power complex of the country. He said that during the moment of formation of the company, in 2005, the whole power industry branch was in the condition of stagnation. The equipment was old, and stagnation in the management development system was observed. Owing to the reform, all powermen of the country had an opportunity for development and prospects.

"Life has given us a chance to build a leader company, and we took this chance", general director of IDGC of Centre said. Further he spoke on stages of work on the project. He told that within three years of development of the company, a number of strategic seminars were held, and top management of the company developed Missions and Values, and also strategy of the company till 2015. To achieve the result, it is necessary to keep balance in managing the company, caring first of all about the personnel, about clients, about achievement of good financial positions. This resulted in expanded strategy based on methodology of the Balanced Scorecards of Norton and Kaplan. "We use six classical prospects, not four," Evgeniy Fyodorovich said. We specially allocated a system of the goals in the field of construction of management and the system of purposes for our positioning in the share market - the first prospect "Growth and transformation", further "Finance", "Clients", "Main business processes", "Management System" and "Personnel". For maintenance of functioning of the given matrix, we created the Center of process and project management. All experts of the company participate in the system of the projects similar to that we speak about.

After that general director and deputy director for IT and management technologies Pavel Obuhov presented the project itself "Development of IT System" and introduced participants of the project.

As it was already said, the project was created proceeding from the Russian conditions of power sector, in which the management system should be changed. The project was launched in August 2005 and on its way of the development had some phases from simple integration of accounting systems to forming modern ERP-system. During the work processes, the of work of divisions of the company was described, their re-engineering was performed, and the digital model of business is now almost completed. For this purpose, all products of ARIS were mastered. Six thousand people took part in realization of this project. "The project has given a good result not only for management of the company," Evgeniy Makarov said, "it gave fine result for our clients. Our companies-partners use the developed IT resource. The billing  system is used by system operators, SRM-system is used by our call-center". The project was closed out on 1 April 2008.

According to vice-president of IPMA Alexander Tovb, "The decision of IDGC of Centre to take part in this competition is a great achievement for the company".

Grzegorz Szalajko, "I am sure that for three days we shall exchange experience and if there are things which demand improvement in management of projects, we want to know about and inform you, because our main purpose is excelence!".

The international award for excellence in project management of IPMA is given to the team of the project reached the best results among prize-winners which are the most successful representatives in project management. For the first time it was awarded in 2002. Since then, the list of winners increased by joining a lot of the companies all over the world. The core of participants of projects is carried out on the basis of the "Project Excellence" model (PE). The given model is the adapted and open concept. Elements of the model are based on the fundamental positions, concepts and experience of application of approaches of the Total Quality Management (TQM). The model is constantly developed on the basis of experience of outstanding organizations and project teams, and IDGC of Centre aims to increase the list of such companies.
