OREANDA-NEWS. August 13, 2008. Belarus will provide humanitarian aid to South Ossetia as part of the efforts meant to alleviate consequences of the humanitarian catastrophe. The decision is laid down by the Council of Ministers’ resolution No 1162 of August 13, 2008, reported the Official website www.government.by.

Belarus will ship tinned meat and milk, 10 tonnes of sugar and 10 tonnes of dry milk as well as household soap and semi-worsted blankets, all in all, worth Br449.9 million.

According to the document the Emergencies Ministry is supposed to ensure the allocation, escort, delivery and handover of the material values to the South Ossetia Administration in Vladikavkaz of the Russian Federation.

The Finance Ministry will reimburse delivery expenses and other costs of the Emergencies Ministry and the Agriculture and Food Ministry using money of the fund set by the national budget to finance expenditures caused by natural calamities, emergencies and catastrophes.
