OREANDA-NEWS. On 18 August 2008 was announced, that Bulgaria’s leading national carrier Bulgaria Air has introduced scheduled services from Burgas, Bulgaria to Vnukovo International. The weekly frequency is operated Tuesdays, using the Boeing-737 midrange jetliners as standard equipment on the route. The flights depart Burgas at 6:35 a.m. local time, arriving in Vnukovo at 10:15 a.m. local time in Moscow, whereas the return service leaves Vnukovo at 11:15 local time in Moscow to land back in Burgas at 12:50 p.m. local time.

Furthermore, the carrier intends to expand its route offering out of Vnukovo International by adding, effective June 30, a twice-monthly frequency to Varna, Bulgaria, with flights to be operated on even-week Mondays, departing Varna at 3:25 p.m. local time, to arrive in Vnukovo at 7:05 p.m. local time in Moscow. The return services will leave Vnukovo Intl. at 8:05 p.m. local time in Moscow, arriving in Varna at 9:50 p.m. local time.

Bulgaria Air was founded in the November of 2002. The Carrier’s fleet numbers a total of 11 Boeing-737 midrange twinjets, with the ratio of six -300 to five -500 models respectively. The carrier operates scheduled services on routes to 34 destinations in 26 countries in Europe and the Middle East. The year 2007 saw Bulgaria Air carry a total of over one million passengers.

Vnukovo International is one of Russia’s largest air transport hubs with over 120 thousand flights by more than two hundred carriers, both domestic and foreign, handled here annually. Vnukovo ranks third nationwide in terms of passenger numbers and is among Europe’s leading gateways as far as passenger growth rate is concerned.

The Airport’s route network comprises in excess of 300 scheduled and charter destinations that account for the bulk of the Airport’s passenger numbers, and another 450-plus destinations served by general aviation.
