OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2008. Round table has been held at the “Silk Road Lodge” Hotel. The event was organized by AmCham Committee on Business Ethics, Development of Mediation, Arbitration and Court Procedures and the Law Firm “Partner” under support of USAID Business Environment Improvement Project in Kyrgyzstan. The AmCham members, representatives of the business community, donors, legal firms and state agencies were among participants, reported the press-centre of AmCham.

This event was organized to promote and develop the institute of Mediation not only in Kyrgyzstan but also in Central Asian region overall. Welcoming remarks were made by Executive Director of AmCham Ainura Cholponkulova, the Representative of USAID Business Environment Improvement Project in Kyrgyzstan (Pragma Corporation) Nurdin Kumushbekov and the Managing Partner of the Law Firm “Partner” and the Chairman of the Committee on Business Ethics, Development of Mediation, Arbitration and Court Procedures of AmCham Nurlan Alymbaev.

Nurlan Alymbaev and the Lawyers of the Law Firm “Partner” Nazira Sultanova, Barno Marazykova and Jarkynai Isaeva made presentations on topics concerning Mediation and proposed series of recommendations on application and development of it in Kyrgyzstan.   

During the round-table, there was heated discussion on such issues as elaboration of legislation on mediation, conducting trainings for potential mediators and their certification approval. In conclusion, the participants proposed to consider an opportunity of establishment of professional associations on Mediation in Kyrgyzstan.
