OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 August 2008 was announced, that the preliminary work on restoring the famous building of Detsky Mir [Children’s World] was launched in Moscow.

“Detsky Mir is a very interesting historical building that has been set under the protection on our initiative since 2005,” Valery Shevchuk, chairman of Committee for Cultural Heritage of Moscow, said at a press conference on August 27.

According to the official, the central supermarket of the leading baby goods store in Russia hasn’t undergone reconstruction for a long time and its building near Lubyanskaya Square in the centre of Moscow isn’t in good condition now.

“At the moment the workers started the preliminary work aimed at restoring this building, scaffold poles have been raised and all essential actions are being carried out,” Mr Shevchuk added.

The chairman of Committee for Cultural Heritage of Moscow added that the final design positions for this building were being adjusted.
