OREANDA-NEWS. On August 26, 2008 JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines released very good financial results for 2007. This confirms the top position in the global ranking issued by "Airline Business", reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

In its August issue 2008, "Airline Business" published income figures of airlines in 2007. Aeroflot reached 15th place in the category "operative margins".

Among the largest "airline groups" in Europe, assessed on their revenue, Aeroflot reaches 13th place, in the worldwide ranking the leading Russian airline places 44th. Aeroflot’s standing 2007 in passenger numbers improved by three places to 41st worldwide.

Basis for the rating were the company’s financial figures asserted by Russian Financial Reporting Standards. Revenue for 2007 accounted for 77.09 bn Ruble, which translates into 3.025 bn US\\$. By International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) revenue exceeded 3.8 bn. US\\$. In 2007 Revenue Passenger km (RPK) was 24.7 bn.

"Aeroflot is very pleased with the improved results, considering times of constant rise in kerosene prices. The road to success is very difficult", said Valery Okulov, CEO. In spite of tough market conditions Aeroflot is confident to continually enhance its good financial statement and its market capitalization.

Five other Russian airlines besides Aeroflot participated in the rating: S7 – 81st place/revenue, Volga Dnepr – 91st place, Transaero – 104th place, Kras Air – 124th place and UTAir Aviation – 125th place.
